Halo Leisure report on the latest investments and transformations at Much Wenlock Leisure Centre.
Upgrades at Much Wenlock Leisure Centre have reached a major milestone as work nears completion on a £100,000 revamp of the poolside changing rooms. The project follows hot-on-the-heels of the newly completed £75,000 gym refurbishment, driving forward a sitewide transformation under a new 10-year partnership between Halo Leisure, The 3-18 Education Trust, and Shropshire Council.
Key developments recently completed at Much Wenlock Leisure Centre (situated on the site of William Brookes School) include:
- £75,000 Gym transformation: A complete overhaul featuring top-of-the-range fitness equipment, premium flooring, and a fresh, modern workout environment.
- £100,000 Pool changing room overhaul: A comprehensive revamp bringing new non-slip flooring, upgraded showers, modern lighting, decorated cubicles, door wraps, fresh paint, and new padlock lockers.
- Aquatic enhancements: A revamped Learn to Swim programme expanding vital life-skill opportunities for local children, alongside the installation of an energy-efficient pool cover to reduce the facility’s carbon footprint.
- Sustainability upgrades: A newly installed eco-friendly, chilled water refill station to help visitors stay hydrated while reducing single-use plastic waste.
A partnership delivering real benefits for Much Wenlock

Funding for the transformations has been provided by Shropshire Council’s Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL), Halo Leisure, and The 3-18 Education Trust.
“While Halo has managed Bridgnorth Endowed Leisure Centre for The 3-18 Education Trust for more than a decade, we only took on operational responsibility for Much Wenlock Leisure Centre in April. We are thrilled with the swift progress achieved so far, all focused on elevating the customer experience to encourage more local people to be more active more often.” said Scott Rolfe, CEO of Halo Leisure.
David O’Toole, CEO, The 3-18 Education Trust commented: “The partnership between Halo Leisure, The 3-18 Education Trust and Shropshire Council is already delivering real benefits for Much Wenlock. Investment of this scale in the gym, pool changing rooms and Learn to Swim programme shows what’s possible when a school, leisure provider, councillors and local authority commit to a shared vision. Much Wenlock Leisure Centre sits at the heart of William Brookes School and the wider community, and it’s fantastic to see facilities of this quality benefiting pupils and local families alike.”
Ruth Shaw, Headteacher at William Brookes School added: “The improvements will enhance the daily experience of our young people and provide high-quality facilities for local families to enjoy. This investment strengthens our school vision: healthy body, healthy mind.”
