Thomas Adams School and Sixth Form is a thriving 11-18 community where students are encouraged to grow together, fulfil their potential and achieve their ambitions. Founded in 1650 by Sir Thomas Adams, Master of The Drapers’ Company, we are proud of our rich heritage, combining centuries of tradition with a modern, forward-thinking approach to education.

Today, we continue to enjoy a strong relationship with The Drapers’ Company, whose longstanding support helps enrich opportunities for our students through governance, awards and charitable initiatives.

Located in the market town of Wem, Shropshire, we educate around 1,200 students from across the local area and beyond. Adams House, our state boarding provision, welcomes boarders from the UK and overseas, creating a vibrant and supportive school community.

At Thomas Adams, relationships are at the heart of everything we do. We pride ourselves on knowing every student as an individual and providing a calm, inclusive environment where young people feel valued, supported and inspired to succeed.

Students benefit from a broad curriculum alongside a wealth of opportunities beyond the classroom, including sport, performing arts, outdoor education, leadership, the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award and a wide range of clubs and educational visits. Our thriving Sixth Form offers excellent academic and pastoral support, preparing students for university, apprenticeships and future careers.

Set within a beautiful 30-acre campus, our school combines outstanding facilities with a welcoming atmosphere. Since joining The 3-18 Education Trust in 2020, we have benefited from continued investment and the opportunity to collaborate across the Trust, while maintaining our unique identity and traditions.
