Cal Knight, Headteacher at The Priory School, talks about the value of Trust-wide subject network groups.
"The opportunity to collaborate with counterparts from other schools is invaluable at all levels. I look forward to seeing this develop further, with teaching staff visiting each other in their different contexts.
“The opportunity to collaborate with counterparts from other schools is invaluable at all levels. I look forward to seeing this develop further, with teaching staff visiting each other in their different contexts.
“The subject network groups continue to make huge strides in reducing workload, improving teaching and learning experiences and supporting staff.
“One very notable example of this is the MFL group across the secondary schools, where MFL leads have fully embraced the opportunity for partnership, agreeing to adopt the same exam board so they can consult on curriculum, assessment and moderation. This has led to reduced workload and provided staff with additional support in so many ways.
“Similarly, the secondary Maths leads have been working together to review the curriculum and improve results through the Mastery approach, with several visits to each other’s schools and sharing best practice.
“These network groups epitomise the power of collaboration and how we can support each other to work towards better outcomes for students and staff by improving results and reducing workload.”
