The 3-18 Education Trust launches Belonging Council to shape the future of belonging across our Trust

Our Belonging Council is a new initiative which will bring our students and staff together to collaborate, share ideas and shape the future of belonging across our Trust.

Our Belonging Council launched this week with students and staff meeting in person at The 3-18 Education Trust’s office in Shrewsbury. This was more than just an inaugural meeting – it was a celebration of belonging and an exciting opportunity for the group to unite as a collective for the very first time.

The creation of the Belonging Council builds on this year’s launch of our Belonging Framework. The framework – which is available to our staff, students, families and agencies – guides our approach to developing inclusive environments where every individual can achieve their personal sense of belonging.

Turning ideas in action

Sadie Howson, Director of Inclusion at The 3-18 Education Trust, said the launch of the Belonging Council was a proud moment for the Trust. She added: “The Belonging Council is a platform for our students and staff to collaborate, share ideas, and shape the future of belonging and mattering across our Trust. Together, we will plan meaningful actions to ensure every child and adult feels valued, supported, and empowered to thrive.”

The Council will meet a minimum of once per term to work on activities at both school- and Trust-level. The council will turn ideas into action, working together to further develop inclusion for our students, staff and communities. Sadie commented: “We look forward to the journey ahead and can’t wait to see what initiatives they plan in the near future!”
