Local housing provider support helps refresh library at St Martins School

Pupils at St Martins School are benefiting from a refreshed and welcoming library space thanks to the generosity of local housing provider STAR Housing.

The refreshed library space at St Martins School

The donation of new bookcases, bean bags and book vouchers is helping to restore the school’s library and learning hub as a calm, comfortable space where children can enjoy reading and learning. The support was provided through STAR Housing’s Hardship Fund and Social Value Fund, reflecting a clear commitment to the wellbeing of children, families and the wider community.

St Martins School sits at the heart of its local area, with many pupils attending the school from STAR Housing homes in the village and surrounding communities. This contribution highlights the positive impact that strong local partnerships can have in supporting schools and young people.

The new resources will help create an inviting environment that encourages pupils to read for pleasure, build confidence and explore their imagination.

Acts of kindness

The support comes as the school continues its recovery following a fire last year that damaged part of the building and impacted on the school library. Since then, school staff have worked tirelessly to rebuild the space and ensure it is safe, welcoming and ready for pupils. Contributions like this are helping the school move forward positively.

St Martins School extended their sincere thanks to STAR Housing for their generous donation. “These contributions will make a real difference to our pupils, creating a welcoming and comfortable space for reading and learning as we continue our recovery. Acts of kindness such as this remind us that our school is not facing recovery alone.”

This collaboration is a powerful example of how schools and businesses working together can make a meaningful difference to children’s learning and wellbeing.

A huge thank you to STAR Housing!
