Governance training
Our governance community share their time, experience, and skills to support our schools in providing the best possible education for our students. In return, we offer a range of training and development opportunities which enable governors, members and trustees to deliver their roles as effectively as possible.
Governance conference
Our annual governance conference takes place in the spring term, and brings together members, trustees, and local governors with Trust staff and senior leaders from our schools.
The conference features updates from the Trust and insightful sessions from external speakers. It also provides the opportunity to network and share best practice within the governance community.
Skills and policy training
Although governance is a voluntary position, mandatory training is carried out to fulfil statutory requirements. We provide training to governors via an online learning platform, The Key, in areas including:
- Safeguarding including online safety
- Cyber security
Depending on the appointed link role within governance, training can also include the following subjects:
- Environmental sustainability
- Equality, diversity and inclusion
- Financial governance
- Progress and attainment: using data to improve educational outcomes
- SEND
- Stakeholder engagement
- Suspensions and exclusions
