Celebrating festive moments and community connections across our schools

From food bank fundraising and Christmas fairs to performing in the local community, students and staff across our Trust have embraced the festive season with energy and enthusiasm.

In their own words, here are some of our favourite seasonal stories from our Trust schools.

Bowbrook Primary School

“Over the past week, every child at Bowbrook has attended the theatre to watch a live performance. We pride ourselves on being the ‘School of Opportunity’ and we believe there’s nothing better than the magic of the theatre.”

Bridgnorth Endowed School

“We’re thrilled to share the amazing success of this year’s BES Festive Food Bank Appeal! Thanks to the incredible generosity of our students, parents and staff, we managed to collect around 1000 items, which we delivered to Bridgnorth Food Bank. A massive thank you to everyone who donated – your support truly makes a difference.”

Coleham Primary School

“At the end of a very long week of nativities, the Coleham school choir gave an outstanding performance at St Alkmund’s Church in Shrewsbury, where they had the privilege of performing alongside the professional vocal ensemble, The Phoenix Singers.

Set within the beautiful and atmospheric surroundings of the church, the evening was a beautiful celebration of music, collaboration, and confidence. The children were expertly prepared and led by Mrs Porrett, and during the concert, the choir also benefited from the direction of The Phoenix Singers’ professional musical director, giving pupils a valuable opportunity to experience performing under expert leadership and alongside accomplished singers.

The highlight of the evening was the joint performances, where the school choir sang two stunning pieces with The Phoenix Singers: Bethlehem and Can You See What I See?”

John Wilkinson Primary School and Nursery

“A huge thank you to our wonderful community, stall holders, Father Christmas and his naughty elf, Illuminate FX, Frankly Farm Tours, and our fabulous staff for supporting our Victorian Christmas Market. It was a resounding success – what an amazing start to the festive season!”

Hodnet Primary School

“We love reading and Christmas in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2! To celebrate our two favourite things, the teachers have created a book advent – one Christmas book to open each day in December. We can’t wait to see which books have been wrapped up!”

Much Wenlock Primary School and Nursery

“Our annual Christmas Fair was a magical success, and it truly highlighted the spirit of our town! We want to extend a massive thank you to Cheryl and Tracy for their endless support and contributions (you really are both truly exceptional), to all the parents who volunteered their time, and cheered on our fantastic school choir, who sang their hearts out and filled the hall with festive cheer! The creativity was shining bright, with every class showcasing unique, handmade items that made for perfect gifts.

We also want to give a special shout out to the generous local companies and businesses who donated prizes and supported our fair. Your contributions were vital in making our raffles and activities possible! Together, we’ve raised an amazing amount that will go directly towards enhancing our children’s learning experience next year. Thank you for making our school the wonderful community it is.”

The Priory School

“Thank you to Mrs Roberts for running our first community wreath making session, which saw some gorgeous wreaths produced.”

St Martins School

“Our Christmas celebrations have started with primary children attending a panto, and students performing for the community at our mini extravaganza that was so kindly hosted at the Miners Institute. The evening was filled with festive cheer as students performed with enthusiasm and confidence to a full house. We enjoyed a wonderful variety of performances from joyful carols and the school band rocking out to a fantastic medley from next term’s musical production. Every act showcased the talent, dedication, and creativity of our students from Year 1 through to Year 11.

Thank you to all the staff who volunteered to make this such a special occasion for school and our community.”

Thomas Adams School and Sixth Form

“Thank you to everyone who joined us for this year’s Christmas Fayre. More than 50 stallholders filled the hall with gifts, crafts, seasonal treats and activities, creating a lively and festive atmosphere for families and visitors. We appreciate the support from our stallholders, the hard work of our staff and volunteers, and the contributions from our students, whose performances added to the occasion. Father Christmas also helped make the evening memorable for our younger guests. We are delighted to have raised a fantastic £1,743.52! The money will go towards school projects and a donation to the local food bank ahead of the festive period to support our local community.”

William Brookes School

“Students from William Brookes School spent a lovely day visiting local care homes, spreading some festive cheer and entertaining residents with songs and dance performances.”
