Second Trust music event unites young musicians in performance

On Friday 19th September, Thomas Adams School hosted The 3-18 Education Trust’s second Music Event, welcoming pupils and staff from Hodnet Primary School and The Priory School.

Performers from schools across our Trust

Instrumentalists from across The 3-18 Education Trust formed a massed orchestra, conducted by Rebecca Heywood, Director of Music at Thomas Adams School, uniting students from primary to sixth form. The day featured lively rehearsals and performances of diverse pieces from Star Wars and Elgar’s Pomp and Circumstance to Don’t Stop Believin’ and Shake It Off.

Pupils from Hodnet Primary School said they had a wonderful day and hope to return next year: “Some of us saw previous Hodnet pupils, and some of the older pupils also helped us to read the music and keep in time. One older pupil is studying music at university, he used to come to Hodnet school. He told us about going to university and playing in bands.”

The final performance was attended by The 3-18 Education Trust’s Deputy CEO Claire Jones and Mark Cooper, Headteacher of Thomas Adams School, who both had the opportunity to speak to students about their experience.

Reflecting on the day, the event underscored the power of music to bring communities together, build confidence, and foster new friendships across our Trust.

The 3-18 Education Trust is a Multi-Academy Trust (MAT) of primary and secondary schools across Shropshire, with a community of over 5,000 students.
