Discussion and reflection at the Aspire Leadership Programme

Leadership development

We are committed to the career development of all staff in our Trust from new and experienced headteachers to aspiring leaders. We offer a number of leadership development opportunities throughout the year from two-day workshops to accredited programmes.

Aspire Leadership Programme

Our in-house leadership programme, Aspire, brings together teaching and support staff to collaborate, share best practice and develop change management projects which drive forward school or whole-Trust strategic initiatives. The 12-month programme is delivered by experienced external facilitators who have worked on leadership programmes with Google UK, Samsung, Financial Times and Unilever.

People Leader Programme

Our two-day in-person People Leader Programme is designed to provide growth and development for all line managers across our Trust. Delivered by an expert trainer, the programme includes sessions on managing challenging conversations; employee wellbeing; recruitment and onboarding; professional development; and absence management.

National Professional Qualifications (NPQs)

We actively encourage headteachers and middle and senior leaders to undertake National Professional Qualifications such as NPQSL, NPQH, and NPQEL. These courses further develop skills and knowledge, and facilitate networking both within, and external to, our Trust.

NQual Endorsed Certificate in Leadership Excellence

Each year, we support colleagues to undertake the NQual Endorsed Certificate in Leadership Excellence, delivered by the leadership development experts at Inspired Mindset. This two-day qualification is designed to help our staff lead with impact, and is suitable for both those looking for a new role or refining their leadership style.

Coaching

Our extensive coaching programme develops and supports our senior leaders to achieve specific professional goals through training, guidance, critique and support. This includes regular coaching sessions and 360° reviews which focus on identifying strengths and areas for development.

"After completing my NPQ couple of years ago, I wanted to equip my teaching and management practices with skills which will support me to drive change and improvement, not only in my own subject area, but across the whole school. The Aspire Programme has inspired me to become a better practitioner, both within my department and school."
