The PACE approach

Suggested Audience: Secondary Staff

WORKSHOP BY: Damien Sweeney YES Trust

PACE – What is the PACE approach and how it impacts children in the classroom- Secondary Focus

Available in Session 2

Damien Sweeney – YES Trust
The session will look at what the PACE approach is: Playfulness, Acceptance, Curiosity & Empathy and how these strategies help children engage in lessons and learning. The session will then move to a practical session where delegates can choose to bring anonymised real-life situations where group consultations will take place and practical activities on how to implement PACE approach to support real-life contexts  (Please note bringing a case study is optional). This workshop links really well with Education Pyschologist Dan Cumber’s workshop on Trauma informed practice so it would be useful to book onto both to ensure maximum impact back in your schools.

Who is this workshop for?

Anyone directly working with children within both the classroom and the wider school environment who would like to develop their strategies in being able to support children who disengage with their learning and can present with challenging behaviours. Teaching assistants, Teachers, Sendcos, and all levels of leadership with a keen interest in supporting inclusion and improving engagement from those ‘hard to reach’ individuals.
