Celebrating the festive season in our schools and communities

From fundraising and feasting to performing on stage, here are just some of the ways our pupils and staff have been enjoying the festive season this month.

“Our little ones raised the roof in their two West End-worthy performances! Every child, aged 3 - 6, sang their heart out & portrayed ‘feeling the fear and doing it anyway’ in the most positive way we could ask for. We are super proud of them all!”

“Thanks to the overwhelming generosity of our amazing students, parents, and staff, 550 items were collected and delivered to Bridgnorth Food Bank this morning. Even better, the donations are already making a difference as a volunteer shared the news that 55 parcels were due to be distributed today, with about half going to local families and the rest going to couples and individuals in need."

“Believe or not, our video tradition is now in its fifth year, so we wanted to do something for charity. We’ve partnered up with our friends at the Shrewsbury Food Hub who help to feed a little corner of our world! They rescue food from 60 supermarkets, farmers and manufacturers every day and distribute it to communities to use. We hope to spread awareness of this brilliant charity and would love to raise a few pounds.”

“Thank you to everyone involved in the Santa Shop! The children thoroughly enjoyed coming to choose their gifts and spend their money. We had some super children helpers – so lovely to see the older children helping younger peers to choose and cost out their items. Thank you to the staff who helped and the PTA volunteers who made it a super successful day. A huge thank you once again to Hodnet Hall Gardens who have generously provided school with a beautiful Christmas tree.”

“Well done to the choir for singing at Much Wenlock Christmas Lights’ Switch On. Our choir sang beautifully at our 3-18 Education Trust partner school, William Brookes School’s Christmas Fair. It’s so wonderful to see the strong links between our schools growing – two schools at the heart of the community, both with a shared vision of collaboration and excellence.”

“Our students from nursery through to Key Stage 2 have been performing for parents and carers: here are Key Stage 1 ready to perform Born in a Barn - well done to all the students and staff for the hard work and amazing performances.”

“Students and staff gathered together their Reverse Advent donations for the Barnabas Community Food Bank for 2024. As always the Food Bank were extremely thankful for our generous donations, which filled most of the mini bus. Thank you to everyone who donated this year.”

“Christmas celebrations started with the annual Christmas Fayre. Visitors enjoyed listening to Christmas carols and music organised by our Director of Music, Mrs Heywood. Miss Arrowsmith’s Makaton club also performed to the crowds. We also had several stalls run by students who are busy fundraising for their 2026 Camps International expedition to Kenya. We raised a fantastic £1,335 from the evening which will be used for future school projects and a donation to the local food bank for the Christmas period.”

“Students, families, staff, and local residents experienced a magical morning at William Brookes School Christmas market. Keen Christmas shoppers were treated to the vocal delights of the Year 7 choir, and a performance from the Much Wenlock Primary School choir. The market raised over £1000 which will go towards equipment for the students to use during their social time.”
