Career Journey – Charlotte Forrester

Name: Charlotte Forrester

Current Position: Nursery Teacher at Bowbrook Primary School

Previous Positions: Reception Teacher at Coleham Primary School

What is your current role, and what does it involve? My current role involves looking after our youngest school starters who are 3-year-olds! As a school we opened in September 2023, so a great deal of time in my current role has been spent, developing our curriculum and working on how to make our practice outstanding. Myself and my colleague/job share have invested time in research and design of our classroom, to ensure it is engaging and exciting for the children.

What has been your journey from your first role within the education sector, to your current role? My first foray into working in school came many years ago when I had a short time in my children’s school working as a lunchtime supervisor. I then went on to complete my BA Hons in Education. My teaching career started after this. I have worked predominately in early years where I am passionate about children having the best start to their educational journey.

What do you most enjoy about your job in school? So much to say here, it is rewarding, challenging, fun, different and satisfying. I love my relationships with the children, their families and my colleagues. Every day is different and exciting.

What does it mean to be part of The 3 – 18 Education Trust? I have been lucky to work in two schools within the trust and the overwhelming feeling is how everyone is valued whatever your role. Staff are integral to each school and when you feel valued you work at your best. The educational offer is also individual school to school.
