UNIVERSAL

The 4 stages

Universal: The majority of our students will thrive and progress at the universal stage.

Monitoring: Students demonstrate emerging concerns in some characteristics  and may need minimally enhanced intervention.

Targeted: Students require targeted interventions and plans to support progress in various characteristics.

Specialist: Students require specialist bespoke support and involvement from external agencies across various characteristics.

A student’s security, in and out of school, significantly influences their sense of belonging. Data shows that children with Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACES) are more likely to face health issues and poor attendance, affecting their learning and identity.

As a Trust, we work closely with our schools to provide support to all students and their families, ensuring protective factors are present through internal safeguarding practices and links with external agencies.

UNIVERSAL

Students thrive within their school and wider community with no safeguarding concerns.

Our expectations for each role at this stage are:

Students

Engage in school life and know how to keep yourself safe inside and out of school. Actively participate in PSHE and RSE lessons. Report any concerns to a trusted adult. Support others to make sensible choices around keeping safe. ​

Parent Carer Icon

Parents/Carers

Support your child to thrive ensuring that their basic needs are consistently met. Maintain good contact with school and any other agencies involved. Access universal support from school or other agencies when needed. Share any concerns open and honestly with school. ​

Teacher Icon

Teachers/School

Deliver high quality PSHE and RSE lessons to help develop students’ understanding of how to keep themselves safe. All staff greet students and be ready to listen to any small worries or concerns a student might have. Maintain effective use of reporting systems to monitor early concerns. Organise and participate in regular safeguarding training for all staff.​

Outside Agencies Icon

Provide high quality training and resources to support schools in teaching about risks and emerging trends that might pose risk to students. Support schools by delivering topical assemblies and workshops​.
