William Brookes School are continuing to honour their Olympic heritage by hosting a prestigious Schools Biathlon Qualifier event on Monday.
The event, organised by Pentathlon GB, will see competitors take on running and swimming events and attempt to qualify for the National Finals in 2025.
Home-grown talent will be prominently represented with around twenty student competitors from William Brookes School. A further twenty school children will participate, with many travelling to Much Wenlock from outside the county.
William Brookes School has a uniquely rich heritage and is the only Coubertin School in the UK. Much Wenlock itself played host to the Shropshire Olympic Games from 1861, led by founder William Penny Brookes, which inspired Pierre Du Coubertin to revive the ancient Olympic games.
“We are so proud of our Olympic heritage and this official Pentathlon GB Biathlon event is a great part of continuing to honour this tradition. It is always a brilliant afternoon of sport where our own students pit themselves against fantastic biathletes from the region."
