I have been part of the team at Coleham Primary School since 2012 and in my current role since 2018.
Initially starting as a 1:1 teaching assistant, I took a keen interest in pastoral care and became a learning mentor. This enabled me to support children across the school. During this time, I gained knowledge, experience and confidence in working with our more vulnerable families.
Since being in the role of Pastoral Leader, I have shaped the pastoral care team at Coleham into something that I am very proud of. I oversee the pastoral interventions and 1:1 support provided to children by the team across all year groups while also managing a caseload of families with support ranging from level 2 to 4.
As a trained ELSA (Emotional Literacy Support Assistant), I provide support for children and deliver a range of targeted support throughout school.
I am a Designated Safeguarding Lead leading on Safeguarding issues and Early Help Intervention required for families.
I am trained in Early Help Support and can signpost families to the right support when it is needed. I am also an accredited Mental Health First Aider and certified to teach Mindful Resilience.
I have a positive reputation among my colleagues in Children’s Social Care and Targeted Early Help. I have built good working relationships particularly with Strengthening Families which enables me to access help and support with my caseload, working closely with Early Help support workers and other early help agencies to support our children and families to achieve their potential.
Having been pastoral leader for the last seven years, I have learnt from experiences and have used this learning to develop ways of working that are efficient and supportive for both school staff and the families and children that I work with. Being able to reflect on our practice is the key to improving outcomes all round.
I am looking forward to being able to share my knowledge and experience with other schools in the Trust to help develop more efficient ways of working to support our children.
Outside of work, I enjoy all things arts and craft, especially if it involves sewing and mindfulness. I enjoy spending time with my family and my dog and love pottering around in the garden.
