Over one hundred music students and teachers gathered at The Thomas Adams School in Wem on Friday for The 3-18 Education Trust’s inaugural music event.

Instrumentalists from across the Trust’s schools collaborated on the day to learn a musical piece to perform as part of a massed orchestra.

Shropshire’s young musical talent was well represented with secondary school students and music teachers joining from The Priory School in Shrewsbury, St Martin’s School in Oswestry, William Brookes School in Much Wenlock, and The Thomas Adams School in Wem.

Victoria Adams, Music Teacher at William Brookes School, said the event had been an inspiring experience for her students: “It was lovely to watch them grow in confidence throughout the day from timid and trembling (literally!) at the start, to having real pride in the performance at the end.”

Rebecca Heywood, Director of Music at The Thomas Adams School, organised the event and said: “This came about from our Music Network meetings which I started last year within my role as Trust Improvement Consultant for Music. It is really exciting to celebrate music making with the Trust and I hope that we can be involved with more events.”

Further performances and events are planned for later in the academic year to celebrate the accomplishments of The 3-18 Education Trust community.

“It was lovely to watch our students grow in confidence throughout the day from timid and trembling at the start, to having real pride in the performance at the end.”

The 3-18 Education Trust is a Multi-Academy Trust (MAT) of primary and secondary schools across Shropshire, with a community of over 5,000 students.

Our Trust Improvement Consultants provide specialist support, guidance and advice across all our schools.
