Career Journey – Nicole Winfield

Name: Nicole Winfield

Current Position: Student Support Mentor at Priory School

Previous Positions: Attendance Administrator

What is your current role, and what does it involve?

Supporting students who may be struggling with various aspects of school life, offering 1:1 sessions to talk through difficulties and offer advise and support. I am a trained ELSA (Emotional Literacy Support Assistant) and also support with school attendance.

What has been your journey from your first role within the education sector, to your current role?

I began working as an Attendance Administrator for the school, I thoroughly enjoyed this role however my previous roles had been more involved directly with children and young people and supporting their emotional wellbeing so I was keen to apply for the Student Support role when a position became available. I had lots of support from SLT and my new line manager in my role and lots of positive feedback which made the role change very easy.

What do you most enjoy about your job in school?

I love building relationships with the students across the school, getting to know what they enjoy taking part in and getting to see them make progress on things they have previously found difficult.

What does it mean to be part of The 3 – 18 Education Trust?

I am proud to work as part of the 3 – 18 Education Trust – The support of the trust is felt throughout the schools.
